SZA has announced that the release of ‘LANA’, her new album, is imminent. A series of online publications reveal that ‘LANA’ is finally considered the deluxe or expanded edition of ‘SOS’, SZA’s 2022 album, and that its release coincides with the second anniversary of the publication of ‘SOS’, on the 9th. December 2022. This day was yesterday, so it seems that the release of ‘LANA’ will not happen later than this week. Do we expect it for this December 13?
In the umpteenth announcement of ‘LANA’ (the title is an abbreviation of Solana, SZA’s real name), the author of ‘Kill Bill’ – the Best Song of 2023 for JENESAISPOP – announces that the “countdown” has begun and reveals a video of her lost in the middle of the forest. An unreleased song plays in the background that samples ‘Voyage to Atlantis’, the Isley Brothers song from 1977.
SZA, as her fans know, has made a habit of releasing new music in December: on Christmas Day 2020 she released ‘Good Days’, one of her biggest hits.
The launch of ‘LANA’ has been delayed for a year, but its existence has been known since February 2023, almost two years. In December 2023, SZA revealed up to six different album covers, but the music has remained in a drawer throughout 2024. The exception has been ‘Saturn’, SZA’s only single of the year. Alone, yes. Lately, the author of ‘Ctrl’ has triumphed alongside Kendrick Lamar with the single ‘luther’.
Also online, SZA has shown the tracklist of ‘LANA’ with most of the titles crossed out, except for ‘Saturn’. Although the titles of ‘Diamond Boy’, ‘Cry Baby’, ‘Take You Down’ or the leaked song ‘Work It’ are more or less visible.
