Fana Hues is one of America’s most underrated R&B artists, capable of blending long-lasting melodies with great creativity. Not for nothing was she discovered in ‘SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE’, one of the best songs of Tyler, the Creator’s entire career.
The artist is about to release her fourth album, probably the most anticipated of her career thanks to some practically perfect previews. While ‘Recognize’ adopts a vintage sound whose melody at times recalls Michael Jackson’s ‘Man In The Mirror’, ‘Sweet n’ Sour’ is the Song of the Day.
Upon its release, it directly became the quintessential breakup song of summer 2026, although many people have yet to find out. Hues decorates the catchy chorus with some beautiful “fuck you” in the chorus while singing about the “bitter end” of the relationship, but also the possibility of “loving again.” She’s sick of all her ex’s “shit.”
The worst thing about ‘Sweet n’ Sour’ is how short it is. Even so, in its short two minutes of duration the artist is in charge of keeping things interesting by constantly changing and transforming melodies, in addition to presenting a light and enveloping production, like the best summer breeze. ‘Catch n’ Release’, Fana Hues’ fourth album, will be available on August 4.
