Steve Ignorantwho was a founding member – along with Penny Rimbaud – and one of the vocalists of the references Crassthe first British group that opted for DIY with political depth and that generated what many labeled as anarchopunk, will visit us with their Steve Ignorant Band project to recover the band’s legacy.
Steve Ignorant was the frontman and one of the ideological bastions of the reference punk band Crass, authentic political activists and one of the main driving forces of the most ideologically radical punk in the United Kingdom. They created their own label, released albums by countless similar groups and made their ideological profile flow in concerts, books, fanzines and in general anywhere there was a reason. They lived in a commune, they participated in miners’ strikes, in anti-nuclear demonstrations, etc. They were the true punks of punk. Theirs are essential albums of the genre such as “The Feeding Of The 5000” (78) or “Penis Envy” (81).
When the band dissolved in 1984, Ignorant began to chain his own projects such as Conflict, Schwartzeneggar, Slife Of Life and, for a couple of years Steve Ignorant Banda group with which he recovers the legacy of Crass. It will be the first time in history that these songs will be played in our country sung by their original vocalist.
will be next Saturday May 3, 2025in the middle of the May 1st bridge, ideal to see an artist of this political and philosophical significance. The concert will be at Salamander room from L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) and will be accompanied by the Catalan power trio Rip and a third band yet to be revealed. The concert is organized by Kasba Music together with two libertarian groups (El Lokal and Kamilosetas Muskaria), and all profits will go to “an anti-repressive cause.”
