Lambchopthe band led by Kurt Wagnerhas released a second preview of what will be their next full-length, “Punching The Clown.”
Lambchop released “Weakened” a few weeks ago, the first preview of the album “Punching The Clown”a song that The Guardian defined as “one of the simplest and most beautiful ballads of Kurt Wagner’s more than forty years of musical career.” Now, “Stella” reveals a new dimension of the sound universe that articulates this new work.
About the song, Kurt Wagner comments: “One night I had a very long dream in which I ended up in the middle of the forest playing the guitar and singing. When I finished and walked back to my car, there were some people in the trees showing their approval. It made me feel pretty good. I have no idea what that meant. Some songs are like dreams. ‘Stella’ was one of them.”
In “Punching The Clown”Lambchop present one of the most unique formations in their more than thirty-year career. It will be a simple quartet in which we will find ourselves Kurt Wagner accompanied by Andrew Broder on the guitar, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) on banjo and several choirs led by Blake Morgan.
The recording and mixing have been carried out by Mark Neverswhile the production has been carried out by Ryan Olsona fundamental collaborator in this new creative stage of the band. The album will be released by City Slang/Merge on August 21.
