American singer-songwriter Stef Chura will return on October 2 with “Dancing Alone on the Concrete”their first album in seven years.
The album will be released via Saddle Creek and will feature REM guitarist and bassist Peter Buck and Mike Mills on the preview single, “Danny.”
In addition to the collaborations of the two REM musicians, the album has been produced by Robert Schneider, founder of The Apples in Stereo and responsible for the production of “In the Airplane Over the Sea”the Neutral Milk Hotel classic. As a first preview you can now listen to “Danny”, a song inspired by an encounter that Chura experienced in New Orleans and which, as the artist explains, speaks of the distance between what we do and what we imagine we have done.
“Dancing Alone on the Concrete” will include nine songs and will mark Chura’s recording comeback after “Midnight” (2019). Coinciding with its publication, the composer will begin a tour as a guest artist on several Dinosaur Jr. dates across North America.
