Quite a surprise. Annie Clarkthat is to say St. Vincenthas just released “Hombre Roto”, the Spanish version of “Broken Man”, one of the songs included in “All Born Screaming”her latest work –with which she was featured on the cover of our publication–.
But the big surprise is that it is not just one song, but Annie Clark will release the next November 15th a version of “All Born Screaming” complete, but this time sung in Spanish and under the title of “Everyone is born screaming”To adapt the texts, he has had the help of his friend and collaborator, the filmmaker Alan Del Rio Ortizwho has signed works with artists such as Fetty Wap, Marshmello, Porches, Blood Orange or Major Lazeramong many others.
In this regard, Clark points out that: “The idea of ‘Everyone is born screaming’ “It comes from looking back and realizing that some of my most memorable concerts have been in Mexico, South America and recently at Primavera Sound Barcelona in 2023. Despite the geographical and temporal differences and the different configurations and venues, there was always a common thread: the passion of the audience, who knew all my songs in English. I was very impressed, so much so that I ended up asking myself one thing: if the audience could sing my lyrics in a language that was not their own, why couldn’t I? I turned to Alan Del Rio Ortiz, a great friend with whom I have collaborated on several occasions, to translate the songs, polishing them to better fit the melody, with the intention of capturing the essence of each song, without sacrificing emotion. It has been a long rewriting process and we have re-recorded the vocals, but it has been worth it when seeing the result. Todos Nacen Gritando is an exciting project that pays tribute to all those people who have been my source of inspiration.”
