The Benidorm Fest 2024 already has its eight finalists. St Pedro, María Peláe, Jorge González and Almácor will join Nebulossa, Miss Caffeina, Angy Fernández and Sofía Coll next Saturday in the fight for the bronze microphone. And, as could be expected, the second semifinal leaves a clear favorite: St. Pedro.
If a year ago Benidorm surrendered to the flamenco of Blanca Paloma, today it takes its hat off to St. Pedro and his bolero ‘Dos Extraños’. The singer has achieved up to 94 jury points out of a possible 96, an absolute sweep (this means that all the juries have given him 12 points except one who has given him 10). In total he has earned 164 points, 15 more than the winners of the first semifinal, Nebulossa.
But be careful because it doesn’t have everything done. If it were due to the public, the winner of the semifinal would have been Jorge González. The performance of ‘Caliente’ has conquered the audience, making it lead both the demoscopic vote and televoting. However, the jury has a completely opposite opinion, earning it the third worst option of the night. The final score is 122 points.
There is greater consensus around María Peláe, who remains in the top 3 of the jury, telescopic and televoting although without being the favorite for any of them, accumulating up to 131 points. Almácor, for its part, has a better reception from the jury than from the audience, despite the fact that the Twitter bubble seemed to indicate the opposite. Will his televote increase heading into the final, keeping him in the fight? He has obtained 115 points.
The biggest surprise of the night is the elimination of Marlena, who started with the second most listened to song on streaming platforms of the edition. However, her ‘Summer Love’ was not enough to gain a place in Saturday’s final, not convincing either the audience or the jury on stage.
