Spain will host Junior Eurovision 2024

Spain will host Junior Eurovision 2024. RTVE assumes the organization of the 22nd edition of the children’s contest after the resignation of France, the winning and host country last year, and after Sandra Valero’s second place with ‘Loviu’. It will do so for the first time in the history of Junior Eurovision and on the 20th anniversary of María Isabel’s victory with ‘Better dead than simple’.

The rules of the children’s edition of the Festival do not oblige the winning network to organize it the following year, as occurs in Eurovision, but they do give it preference if it wishes to host the contest the following year. For this reason, France Télévisions has decided to hand over the organization of the next edition of Junior Eurovision, which had already hosted it in 2021 and 2023 due to its two previous victories.

«20 years after their victory at the Festival, we are delighted to finally bring Junior Eurovision to Spain. We are very grateful to RTVE for agreeing to host the 22nd edition of the competition, which offers young artists from all over Europe an incredible platform to showcase their talent. We are looking forward to enjoying the party that awaits us this year in Spain,” said Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the JESC.

Ana María Bordas, Head of the Spanish Delegation, states that “RTVE accepts with great enthusiasm the invitation of the EBU for the 2024 Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Spain.” “For RTVE, hosting the next Junior Eurovision is one more step in the effort that the network has made in recent years to promote Eurovision in Spain and to give greater relevance to our music,” she continues.

«We will put our best creative, technical and human resources to offer a Festival designed for young artists in a celebratory and safe environment. We are sure that the Spanish public will also receive this announcement with great enthusiasm and will welcome the Eurovision community with open arms,” added Ana María Bordas. The city that will serve as headquarters will be announced later, as well as the dates of the new edition.
