We answer all your questions and concerns
Given the current circumstances, and before your messages, questions and concerns received in recent days, we want to clarify a series of points and respond to your consultations. This is a dynamic section, which will continue to be updated based on your concerns. Once again, thanks for reading and writing to us.
Do you condemn the genocide about the Palestinian people?
Yes, undoubtedly, our position is clear and unequivocal: we condemn the genocide about the Palestinian people.
What relationship does Sónar have with KKR?
Supersruct Entertainment, a company with more than 80 festivals worldwide, Sónar acquired in 2018. At that time, Providence Equity Partners was the main investor of Supersruct. In October 2024, Providence retired and sold his participation to a consortium formed by KKR and more than 90 investors. It was a purely financial operation, in which we had neither intervention, voice, nor vote. In the same way, we do not exercise interference or control over its investment decisions or its internal operation.
Does my money come to KKR?
No, at all. At no time have we sent – we will not send – not a single euro to KKR. We can assure you that, after covering all the costs of the festival itself (salaries, artists, production, communication, structure expenses, etc.), all benefits are reinvested entirely in the face of the future editions of Sónar.
The Superstruct position has also been clear and public: “All the income and benefits of Superstruct events and festivals remain entirely within our company and are destined to the development and realization of our festivals worldwide.”
Why didn’t you be clearer with your communiqués?
We read and learn with each message we receive. That’s why we are here, answering your questions
Does Sónar still have freedom of action?
Yes, absolutely. The relationship with Supersruct is purely administrative and the relationship with KKR, null. The human team behind Sónar is still the same, with members who even have been working since the first edition. The team works with absolute independence and remains faithful to the principles, values and motivations that lead it to create, year after year, the festival. This implies technical production, communication and, of course, the artistic and discursive programming of Sónar and Sónar+D.

We will do it as soon as possible, as soon as we have the closed and confirmed lineup.
Are you going to make any donation to help the victims of Genocide in Gaza?
Yes. To the donations that we make edition after edition to local associations, we will add this year a donation to NGOs that work to help the population of Gaza. We are studying what NGOs collaborate.
Can I enter the festival with symbols of support to the Palestinian people?
Yes, as long as they are within the current legal framework.
Will Sónar continue to be a space where everyone is Welcome?
Yes, the public can enjoy the festival in the same conditions of comfort and freedom of always.
Sónar is still the same as always?
Sónar is culture, celebration, avant -garde and innovation, but also social responsibility and commitment to our audiences, communities and collaborators. We have always defended the total and absolute freedom of expression in our event, both on the stage and on the dance floor, as long as the freedom of action and opinion of the rest of the participants and public is respected.
Will there be a festival space to discuss this reality?
Yes. We will open Thursday’s activity on the Stage+D stage making it a space for reflection, listening and action on the role of culture in the current global context. In a scenario marked by financial consolidation, diffuse censorship, structural precariousness and geopolitical conflicts, we summon artists, thinkers, institutions and cultural managers to a deep and proactive debate. Can there be a culture outside the capitalist dynamics? What role should cultural actors play in the face of injustices such as genocide in Gaza? Is it possible to think of a new consensual, real and applicable ethic for the cultural sector? How can we generate ethical practices in sustainability or sponsorships? This forum is an open invitation to share different perspectives, aware that culture has always been and must continue to be a force of transformation.
Are you going to reimburse those who decide not to go to the festival?
We have activated a procedure to centralize all applications and respond individually to each of them in the next few days. You can write to email (email protects).
If you have any other question, write us (Email Protected).
