Slowthai is declared innocent after going to trial for rape

Slowthai has been found not guilty after being accused of rape last year and, consequently, removed from the posters of festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Parklife.

Last year, two fans of the British rapper alleged they were assaulted by him and a friend of his, Alex Blake-Walker, after a concert in 2021. Tyron Frampton, real name, was accused of forcing a of women to have oral and vaginal sex without consent. Today, both defendants have been found not guilty.

Slowthai’s lawyer argued that “the fame effect” can make people “do things they otherwise wouldn’t do.” BBC News, on the other hand, reports that the artist told the jury that “he knew it was consensual, there was no doubt” and that “she was the one who started the oral sex.”

Last year, the rapper took the accusation to the networks to categorically deny the facts: “I am innocent and I trust that my name will be cleared. Until then, I will put my energy into making sure this is resolved quickly and fairly.”
