Slayyyter, not to be missed tonight at Razzmatazz

It seems that Slayyyter’s dream of making “music for gay clubs and spaces” has come true and in recent weeks she has been seen parading in Pride parades in various cities in the United States, from Seattle to Nashville, passing through St Louis. Today, Saturday 13th July, it will be Razzmatazz’s turn in Barcelona. She will logically present the album that confirmed her success last year, ‘STARFUCKER’.

All those who bought our 2023 Yearbook would see that this album was the 71st best for our editorial team, and in that text we especially praised ‘Miss Belladonna’ (88th best song 2023) and ‘Out of Time’ for “closing the album on a high note”. Today we bring this one back as “Song of the Day” to recommend this concert in which we guess on other dates that the album will be played almost in its entirety. Curiously, ‘Out of Time’ usually opens the setlist.

There are plenty of sex-related hits on ‘STARFUCKER’ (‘Erotic Electronic’) and plenty of vogue-y stuff (the bonus track ‘James Dean’). Nicopop. & Vaughn Oliver are behind this more Italo-disco-oriented track about a girl who’s ready to make it big but might be ‘out of time’.

Sampling Phil Fearon & Galaxy’s 1982 cut ‘Head Over Heels’, the song contains a bittersweet edge, also visible in the song’s reliance on the approval of others: “she hates herself but if everyone loved her, she wouldn’t care.”
