‘Silly for you’ by Leire Martínez and Abraham Mateo is not so pija

United in their role as Jury of Operation Triunfo 2025, Leire Martínez and Abraham Mateo publish Single Single, ‘Silk for you’.

‘Silly for you’ is a nice composition on two “Pijitos de Madrid” that attract. As Raquel Peláez points out in his book ‘I want and I can’t: a story of the pijos of Spain’, being pijo can be a spiritual issue both economic. In the case of ‘silly for you’, it seems that it is economical, because the protagonists are not only pijos, but also transmit it on their accent.

Made this very important reflection, ‘silly for you’ is not the most pija production of Abraham Mateo, nor the most sophisticated. Where in ‘Clavaíto’ he grew up, in ‘fool for you’, together with the co-producer Fectro, a strident and screaming work, marked by a horrible vocal production, and truffled with unnecessary effects that engulf the voices in the mixture.

‘Silly for you’ save the furniture for two reasons. First, the composition is efficient and catchy, both as a single from Van Gogh’s ear or the love you, whose proposal is greatly remembers. The fusion of eighties synthesizers and pop-pank melodies of ‘silly for you’ is the same or very similar as that of the authors of ‘the end of the world’.

Secondly, the key of ‘silly for you’ is not that its protagonists are pijos, but of course their attraction, and the way so identifiable and realistic in which they express it. ‘Silly for you’ joins several youth signals -fiesta, alcohol, motorcycles- and with them it offers a funny although nothing mysterious or subtle portrait of adolescent sexual tension. He gets nervous when she “teaches the teeth,” her legs tremble with her “chulería when walking.” Where they end, you have to be silly not to guess it.
