Silitia is a Bizkaino duo formed by Ibai Silicato and Xabier Barrutia that defines its sound as “punk-funky-electro-euskal-rock.” The group has invented a separate, more concise label, to describe the madness of its mix of styles and staging: prioche pop.
Air electronic, post punk, funk, eighties music, industrial and art rock with high doses of humor and extravagance both musical and aesthetics, Silitia can boast of having published songs as accurate as the guitarrera ‘Txumin Lova’ -included in her long debut of 2021, ‘agata’- or the radioactive cocktail of’ Moises’. ‘Lorearena’ is presented as a canonical in Silitia’s repertoire for its formula inspired by the pop of 60, in its experimental and unclassifiable aspect. The press release compares it to the Beatles, although its rustic indie-pop sound reminds Deerhunter, too.
‘Lorearena’ “responds to the hedonism of Bizkainos”, in the words of their seal, Lume! (which leads to the great Ezezez). The theme, so colorful, “deals with the conflicts of maternal love” and its video clip introduces a mysterious “much larger audiovisual set that will be revealed soon.” However, the humor of ‘Lorearena’ does not dissolve the “weight of maternal love” in the song, “inseparable to the human being” but that “brings with it conflicts and pains.”
The lyrics of ‘Lorearena’ describes a daily scene from the point of view of a child who arrives at school: «Newcomer of class / on the brown sofa / with you watched television / we distributed the chocolate palm tree / the I ate by your side, ”the group sings in Basque.
‘Lorearena’, which incorporates the sound of a traditional Basque instrument, the alboka, advances the launch of a project that receives the title of ‘Mirak Orok Tapatzen Zauria’ (“Every miracle cube the wound”), and that will be presented live On March 20 at the Kutxa Beauty (Kafe Antzokia) in Bilbao, in quartet format.
