shego present the fourth single from their next album with a declaration of intentions: “Today I woke up and I chose violence.” ‘Advanced Bitch Course’ is the latest preview of ‘I Won’t Do It Again’, available on February 6.
Maite, Raquel and Charlotte are inspired by the eponymous collection of poems by the writer Carolina Otero Belmar to create a theme that embraces everything that makes us imperfect and, at the same time, human. Between indie, in its disturbing three-voice chorus, and punk, in its sharp verses, ‘Curso Avanzado de Perra’ laughs at righteousness: «No fear, no shame, no guilt, no money in the bank / The “It’s your parents’ fault, the school’s fault, the Spanish State’s fault.”
The theme also comes with its own decalogue. The eleventh commandment is in the letter itself: “Nothing is going to hurt you / Nobody is going to destroy you.” These are the rules to be faithful to the order of shego:
1. You will love yourself above all things.
2. “I shit on God” will be mandatory in your vocabulary.
3. You will sanctify “The Feast”.
4. The fault will always be your father and mother.
5. Thou Shalt Not Kill (or yes).
6. You will believe you are invincible even though even God can’t stand it.
7. You will steal from multinationals and support local commerce.
8. You will lie whenever necessary.
9. You don’t want to fuck or you just want to fuck or you want to leave.
10. You will say you won’t do it again (but you will do it again).
In addition to ‘Advanced Bitch Course’, ‘The Party’, ‘arghHhh!’ and ‘Although it hurts’ will not be missing from shego’s Tour Girando por Salas:
