Sam Smith, classic but different in the tender 'My Guy'

Sam Smith flops with his best disc, also in Spain

The podium of the Spanish albums chart remains unchanged for another week: Quevedo remains at number 1 with ‘El Baifo’, Bad Bunny continues at number 2 with ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ and Omar Courtz completes the top 3 with ‘Por Si Mañana No Quiero’. Below, the news is marked by several entries and, above all, by the discreet debut of Sam Smith.

‘Hazel Eyes’ comes in at number 23, a pretty weak result for someone who not so long ago placed ‘Unholy’ everywhere. And it is worth remembering that Sam Smith comes from a very powerful commercial career: his debut, ‘In the Lonely Hour’, was a true international bestseller, while ‘Gloria’, published in 2023, reached number 1 in the United Kingdom and number 7 in the United States.

Now ‘Hazel Eyes’ has not reached the top 10 in any country: its best figure is 11 in Switzerland and in the United Kingdom, its main market, it remains at 21, due to the lack of hit singles. In the United States it is not even expected to make the list. There are some slightly better results, like 14th in Scotland or 18th in Germany, but it is clear that the post-‘Unholy’ era has lost a lot of steam and ‘Hazel Eyes’ is not managing to restore its status as a pop phenomenon.

The biggest entry of the week, of course, is for ENHYPEN, which places ‘The Sin: Bliss’ directly at number 20, helped by its diversity of physical editions. K-pop thus once again has a prominent presence on the Spanish list.

Among the new entries also appears Twenty One Pilots, whose ‘More Than We Ever Imagined (Live in Mexico City)’ debuts at number 45. And there is a particularly significant re-entry: The Weeknd returns to number 49 with ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, coinciding with the proximity of his concerts in Spain, which have left mixed impressions.
