Sam Rivers, founding member and bassist of Limp Bizkit, dies

The social networks of Limp Bizkit have officially announced the death of their bassist and founding member Sam Rivers as a result of an illness that he had been suffering from for some time.

The death of Sam Rivers (on the right, in the photograph) was just yesterday, as announced by the band’s social networks. nu metal Clean Bizkit. The cause of death was, according to some American media, a cancer that had nothing to do with the liver disease he suffered a decade ago and which kept him away from the team led by Fred Durst for almost three years.

“Today we have lost our brother and bandmate, our heartbeat. Sam Rivers was not only our bassist, but he was true magic. His bass in every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul of our sound,” the statement read.

Sam Rivers was one of the founding members of the band that includes Fred Durst, Wes Borland, John Otto and DJ Lethal. In fact, Rivers was John Otto’s cousin, although it was initially he and Fred Durst who started Limp Bizkit and later signed Otto. Rivers learned to play bass when he was barely twelve years old.
