Anni B Sweet continues to reveal the material for her next album, ‘Alegría’, which will arrive on October 16. The new single, ‘I can’t find you grace’, is an explosion of psychedelia inspired by the 60s, but with a melody that also evokes the melodic Spanish song. Almost as if Anni aspired to represent Spain in Eurovision 50 years later.
The production, co-produced again with James Bagshaw of Temples, combines guitars with fuzz, mellotrons, percussions and all kinds of small psychedelic details around a particularly luminous and effusive melody.
The lyrics move between surreal images and a certain epic of heartbreak: “The stars today are not the cure for my pain / and the moon because it suffers from lovesickness,” Anni sings before imagining “the still waves” wanting to “be mountains.” It’s a song about “gaining perspective after a difficult experience,” but presented from a place much more bright than painful.
The ‘Alegría’ Tour begins with two dates already announced: November 19 at Razzmatazz, Barcelona, and January 14 at the Moon room in Valencia. Tickets are now on sale.
