Sabrina Carpenter – as expected – enters the UK at number 1 with ‘Short n’ Sweet’, her sixth studio album. UK Official Charts put total sales of ‘Short n’ Sweet’ at 89,000 copies sold in its first week.
In the UK, it is the second best debut of 2024 behind only Taylor Swift with her ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ (270,000 units).
Sabrina also makes history by taking the top three spots on the UK Singles Chart: ‘Taste’ is number 1, ‘Please Please Please’ is number 2 and ‘Espresso’ is number 3. Only Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles before her had managed to score a number 1 album and simultaneously occupy the top three spots on the Singles Chart. Carpenter is the first woman to achieve this in the UK.
In addition to the UK, ‘Short n’ Sweet’ debuts at No. 1 in France, Australia, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway and Scotland. It also opens at No. 3 in Germany and Sweden, and No. 9 in Italy. The US and Spanish figures will be released next week. In the US, Carpenter is competing for No. 1 with Travis Scott.
Meanwhile, the public seems to have chosen the fourth official hit from ‘Short n’ Sweet’: ‘Bed Chem’ has just burst onto the scene at number 9 on Spotify’s global chart. With this, Carpenter’s fourth single has now made the global top 10.
