Royal Blood is back. The British duo formed by Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher have announced their fifth LP, ‘Dead Company’, which will arrive on November 13 via Warner Records, and have already released their first single, ‘Ten Over Ten’.
The song is a hard rock and blues rock stomper, with some desert rock and even a certain metal aroma. The riffs sound especially powerful and sharp, while the drums push a song full of energy that seems designed to work even better live. It’s a good genre song and a demonstration that Royal Blood still knows how to make a lot of noise being just two people.
Of course, it doesn’t seem like ‘Ten Over Ten’ is going to win them too many new fans. Rather, it limits itself to offering another dose of the formula that the duo has been practicing for years, defined by heavy riffs and squared forcefulness, without too many surprises or a melody that makes it stand out especially within their catalog. For those who were already in, in any case, it is a quite convincing return.
‘Dead Company’ will be Royal Blood’s first album since ‘Back To The Water Below’, released in 2023. According to the duo, they entered the studio in 2025 with no deadline or distractions, with the idea of exploring “what was possible with two people, 12 notes and infinite results.”
