As has been guessed since its release, Rosalía’s ‘Lux’ has been the most gifted album at Christmas in Spain, despite the obvious distribution problems of its physical editions. Sony has not even remotely been able to meet public demand.
Even so, ‘LUX’ remains at number 1 in Spain for the 8th week, certified triple platinum having surpassed 120,000 units. Who would have been top 1 if it weren’t for Rosalía? Alejandro Sanz, who is in number 2, but very far away, since ‘And Now What +’ has only been certified as a gold record (between 20,000 and 40,000 copies) in total. The list published today goes from December 25 to January 1, but traditionally, there are no big changes between said week and Epiphany.
If the presence in the top 10 on Christmas days of Bad Bunny, Quevedo and Beéle must be associated with streaming; Aitana, Fito y Fitipaldis, Pablo Alborán and Taylor Swift also appear positioned at the top of the vinyl chart, which Rosalía also leads despite the lack of stock.
Likewise, it is worth highlighting the large number of old albums by Extremoduro and Robe that rise, re-enter or remain in the official Spanish top 100 albums. ‘Se nos took el aire’ by Robe is in position 18, while ‘La ley innata’ by Extremoduro is the strongest rise of the week, going from position 42 to position 17. Up to 8 Extremoduro albums appear in the official top this week, and 11 do so in the top 100 vinyl records:
17 (42) The innate law
18 (11) The air takes us away
45 (E) Everyone go fuck themselves
50 (86) Agila
66 (E) Prohibited songs
69 (E) Great successes and failures
81 (RE) Transgressive rock
83 (RE) Pedra
92 (E) Deltoya
This is how the Spanish top 10 looked between December 25 and January 1:
1.-Rosalía / Lux
2.-Alejandro Sanz / And now what +
3.-Bad Bunny / I should have taken more photos
4.-Aitana / Blue room
5.-Fito and Fitipaldis / The mountain of howling
6.-Quevedo / Good night
7.-Pablo Alborán / Km 0
8.-Taylor Swift / The Life of a Showgirl
9.-Beéle / Borondo
10.-Kpop Demon Hunters OST
The only new entry of the week is ‘Samurai II’, the new joint album by Beny Jr and El Guincho, which reaches number 16.
