Taking advantage of the fact that last August 8 (8-08), Roland celebrated the 40th anniversary of the launch of the venerated TR-808, today they have released a new firmware for their 808 currentthe TR8-S.
This evolution of the TR8, the Aira series drum machine, adds sampling possibilities to the original. And, starting today, thanks to the new firmware 2.0, you will have FM synthesis-based drums at your disposal, making it, according to Roland, the “most complete drum machine.” Indeed, it should not be far from reality, since the only thing we remember that resembled this versatility would be the Elektron Machinedrum, but the version with a sampler (the UW, if memory serves) had a handling that was a nuisance
The TR8-S, on the other hand, follows Roland’s guidelines in handling and usability, so working with it is very fluid.
And, as we told you, now you have FM synthesis, which adds all kinds of metallic and harmonic sounds typical of this type of synthesizers.
If you already have one, run to the official website and download firmware 2.0. And, if you don’t have it, you can buy it here at a wonderful price for what you get in return.
