The Band Contest Final Rockeinorganized by the Basauri City Council, the November 1 at Social Antzokia.
The musical contest is already underway, for the thirteenth year Rockeinaimed at bands and soloists from the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarra. He registration period of the contest, organized by the City of Basauri, will remain open from today to the June 26. Among all the proposals received a jury composed of professionals in the sector will select six finalists who will perform in the Social Antzokia de Basauri on Saturday, November 1. That same night the jury will decide and notify what the winning bands of the 2025 edition will be.
As a novelty in this edition, the Bizkaia Provincial Council, through its Department of Euskara, Culture and Sports, collaborates with the contest again, and creates the Bizkaia Awardwhich will mean that Bizkaia’s best artist records a professional EP in the El Tigre de Bilbao studios and acts at the festival Maz Basauri 2026. The rest of the awards do not vary compared to 2024.
The winner of the last edition, Ben Santanahas presented at today’s press conference the works resulting from that award, an EP called “Prologue” and the video clip of the theme “Ay, my baby” (see at the bottom of the news).
Rockein He has been breaking his participation record for nine years, with a rate close to 30% renewal of the registered projects. In 2024, 195 artists were registered. Winners and winners have come out of the contest as Sara Zozaya, Silitia, Lova Lois, Full Cab, Ben Santana…
Requirements to participate
-Take, at least, a component born resident in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) or Navarra.
-To be able to opt for the best artist of Hego Uribe: to have at least one registered component in Basauri, Arrigorriaga, Etxebarri, Galdakao, Ugao-Miraballes, Usansolo or Zaratamo.
-To be able to opt for the Bizkaia award: have at least one registered component in a municipality in Bizkaia.
-To be able to opt for the Eskarabillera award: that, at least, 50% of the group’s components are women
-That the components be over 16 years.
-That at the time of registration do not have more than an edited disk, regardless of whether or not it is subject to a record contract.
-What the issues are original
-The musical styles are accepted
-All bands previously registered in Rockein have the possibility of participating again in this new edition, as long as they meet the aforementioned requirements. The bands that have already been winning will not choose to repeat in the same category in which they were awarded.
