The Last Dinner Party wins BBC Sound of 2024

Music news

RFTW: J Mascis, Lola Indigo, Vera Sola, Pájaro Sunrise…

Today, February 2, the first album by The Last Dinner Party, winners of the BBC Sound of 2024, is released. In addition, J Mascis, leader of Dinosaur Jr., publishes a new solo album. Other albums that come out are those by Holly Macve (friend of Lana Del Rey), Lee “Scratch” Perry, Pájaro Sunrise, Vera Sola or Tu Otra Bonita.

The harvest of singles is once again generous for another week. The returns of Pet Shop Boys, Billy Joel and Camera Obscura stand out, on the one hand. On the other hand, Vicente Navarro and Rocío Márquez team up on a joint single and Lola Indigo completes her EP with the missing song, ‘Una bachata’ with Saiko.

Today they release a single, or have done so in the last few hours, also Luna Ki, TWICE, Usher (about to perform at the Super Bowl), Norah Jones, Everything Everything, Sega Bodega, Paula Koops, BADBADNOTGOOD, The Blessed Madonna, JT (from City Girls), Enry-K, Bombay Bicycle Club with Lucy Rose, Paula Cendejas, Yot Club or Bella Poarch.

Among the curiosities left by today’s release day, Paramore cover Talking Heads (they are part of the tribute album ‘Stop Making Sense’); and Florence + the Machine adapt the traditional song ‘White Cliffs of Dover’, popularized by Vera Lynn.

Finally, we recommend two possible 2024 revelations: on the one hand, Jazzy, a new British popstar who has nothing to say about “jazzy”, and caracazador, a new alternative pop author who debuts on Zahara’s label.
