Faithful to its tradition of permanent improvement of its products, the renowned British subwoofer specialist REL Acoustics (one of the very few companies in the world dedicated exclusively to high-quality subwoofer speakers for home applications) has just presented the second generation of its celebrated HT/1203 and HT/1003 models, the HT/1205 MKII and the HT/1003 MKII respectively. As members of the HT Series, the new RELs have been specifically designed for solve the challenge which implies the need to create exceptionally active subwoofers musical and dynamic for Home Theater applications and offer them at an affordable price. The key to successfully overcoming this challenge is the transfer and adaptation of technologies developed for High End models, giving priority to elements with a direct influence on the sound, the result being two subwoofers without competition within the products of their class and price.
Thus, in the upper model, the HT/1205 MKIIan elegant and compact perfectly proportioned hermetic enclosure is used with a solid structure of internal reinforcements, which minimizes the influence of potential vibrations generated by its new and sophisticated CarbonGlas transducer 305 mm diameter (12”), designed to make large movements without distortion. As far as the internal amplifier is concerned, it is entrusted to a NextGen design latest generation (NextGen5) with MOSFET modules, which delivers 500 watts continuous in Class D and allows the HT/1205 MKII, together with the famous input filters PerfectFilters of REL, provide levels of sound pressure 50% higher than its predecessor without sacrificing precision or musicality.
Regarding cable connectivity, there are both line and LFE stereo inputs and outputs equipped with RCA connectors, and it is also possible to wireless connection via REL HT-Air. Described by REL Acoustics as the ideal option for those enthusiasts “whose heart says HT/1205 MKII but their pocket says no”, the HT/1003 MKII can be defined as a very careful scale version of that, which means that it exhibits practically the same technical refinements and the same construction quality and finishes. Hence the presence of a CarbonGlas speaker of the latest generation of 254 mm diameter (10”), a 300-watt continuous Class D amplifier, an ultra-compact hermetic enclosure and the exclusive PerfectFilters from REL, to which we must add connectivity options identical to those of the HT/1205 MK2 model.
