Red Hot Chili Peppers sell their musical catalog for more than three hundred million

The group Red Hot Chili Peppers has sold his catalog of recorded music to Warner Music Group for more than three hundred million dollars, according to Billboard.

The agreement covers all of the band’s recorded material, including its thirteen studio albums, which are estimated to generate about twenty-six million dollars a year. Although in the last year the group had controlled its catalog independently and was reportedly looking to sell it for around $350 million, Warner Music Group was the natural buyer, as it was the label that originally released albums like “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” and “Californication”.

This agreement should not be confused with the important sale he made Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2015, when Hipgnosis Songs Fund acquired its publishing rights for approximately one hundred and fifty million dollars. However, these rights could change hands again in the future, as Sony Music Entertainment is currently in talks to purchase Hipgnosis Songs Fund (now known as Recognition Music Group) within an operation valued at several billion dollars.

In 2022, Red Hot Chili Peppers They released two albums, “Unlimited Love” and “Return of the Dream Canteen”which remain their most recent releases. With this operation, they join the list of renowned artists who have sold their catalogs to large companies, such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and justin bieber. In contrast, figures like Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa they are going the opposite route, taking back ownership of their own recordings.
