Buku Abi, R. Kelly’s daughter, has revealed in a new documentary the alleged sexual abuse she suffered during her childhood from her father.
The two-part documentary titled ‘R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey also includes “raw and moving” interviews with Abi’s sister and brother. In the first episode, she claims that the singer abused her as a child: “For a long time, I didn’t want to believe what had happened.”
«I didn’t know, even if he was a bad person, that he would do something to me. “I was too scared to tell anyone, including my mother,” he adds. In the second part of the documentary, she claims that she woke up “with him touching me” and says that she told her mother for the first time in 2009, when she was 10 years old.
Abi also says that, when she told her mother, they went to the police station to file a complaint, but in the end it was not possible: “They couldn’t go ahead because I had waited too long. At that point in my life, I felt like I had said all that for nothing,” he details.
On the other hand, and in a statement to People magazine, R. Kelly’s lawyer has stated that the singer “vehemently denies” the accusations.
