Pussycat Dolls have announced their umpteenth return to the stage, revealing the dates of their world tour for the 20th anniversary of their debut ‘PCD’ (2005) and releasing a new single, ‘Club Song’. Although they are not exactly the Pussycat Dolls that you remember, since those were six members and the current ones are three, of course they are still led by vocalist Nicole Scherzinger, who pauses her career in the theater – in 2025 she won the Tony for Best Leading Actress for ‘Sunset Boulevard’ – to return to the pop band that popularized her globally with ‘Don’t Cha’ and other hits.
Along with Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt return to the ranks of Pussycat Dolls, but not the most famous member apart from Nicole, Melody Thornton, known for hilariously sabotaging one of the band’s television performances.
‘Club Song’ is based on the war cry “don’t bring your boyfriend to the club”, but musically it doesn’t overwhelm you, returning to the original sound of Pussycat Dolls, exactly that of the first album. Since Tate McRae seems to base her entire discography on the sound of ‘Buttons’, PCD shamelessly reappropriate it.
The drums and percussive guitars of ‘Club Song’ point to the style of that first album and the work of Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado with Timbaland, while the instrumentation also includes the sound of a sitar, as ‘Beep’ already did.
The Pussycat Dolls tour will not pass through Spain and, if you thought they could get involved performing at BRAVA Madrid, we are sorry to inform you that on the same dates they perform in Antwerp and Paris.
