In line with its philosophy of creating products with the sound of audiophile grade that are at reach of all pocketsthe renowned Austrian firm Pro-Ject has just launched the Speaker Box 5 E Carbon, a bookshelf speaker with very compact dimensions that provides innovations in key points with respect to the Speaker Box 5 E. The starting point is, as in its predecessor, a bass reflex setup 2-way/2 speakers with rear port in which the excellent quality of both the transducers as of the circuitry that manages them. A tweeter 25 mm silk dome that guarantees a transparency and softness extremes, while the restitution of medium and bass is entrusted to a “midwoofer” with continuous profile cone (i.e. without cap) composed of 127 mm intertwined glass and carbon fibers, designed for maximize rigidity and robustness while minimizing distortion at high volume levels.
The use of a magnetic motor with a magnet of generous dimensions that ensure a response to octaves unusually wide, firm and controlled lower parts of the spectrum for a speaker of such small dimensions. The perfect harmonization of the two speakers of the new Pro-Ject, essential for the agility of its behavior, its tonal precision and the dazzling equilibrium of its response curve in subjective frequency, leads us to another of its essential characteristics: the presence of a crossover filter highly sophisticated which highlights the presence of specially selected audiophile grade components and a printed circuit board of high quality, an architecture that reduces the levels of distortion in the particularly critical mid and high frequency bands.
This set is mounted on a extremely rigid enclosure built in MDF with anti-resonance treatment, in order to achieve a platform totally neutral for the transducers, adding to this some impeccable finishes (6 in total), gold-plated connection terminals suitable for cables with all types of terminations and protective grilles with magnetic fixation. Furthermore, there is a mounting bracket optional wall mount intended for users who are going to use the Speaker Box 5 E Carbon in installations with very limited space or even to reproduce the effects channels in Home Theater systems.
