Placebo publish the new reimagined version of “Lady of the Flowers”, the second song to be shared from their next album “Placebo Re:Created”which they will probably play on their Spanish double date.
The Re:created version of “Lady of the Flowers” comes at a time when Placebo They are recovering the original tapes of their material and taking these songs into new territories. The production is punchier and more layered throughout, with guitars floating and growing under the iconic vocals of Brian Molkowhich has been placed further up front in the mix. The result is a fuller, more expansive version of the track: recognizable as the song itself, but with a scale and presence that reflects three decades of knowing exactly what it wants to be.
Originally released at the height of the Britpop era, Placebo stood in stark contrast to the prevailing cultural climate. While much of British guitar music of the era leaned toward light-hearted nostalgia and national identity, the band’s debut offered something much more provocative and confrontational. Their songs addressed sexuality, androgyny, addiction and alienation with an honesty unusual in commercial rock at the time, establishing the group as one of the most distinctive voices of their generation.
Speaking about the upcoming album, Placebo explain: “We thought of this record as a director’s cut. We haven’t recreated it from scratch. We went back to the original master tapes and brought 30 years of experience playing these songs live into the album. This project was about finally finishing the record, bringing it sonically into the 21st century, while preserving the integrity and spirit of the original. It’s not about improving it—there’s nothing wrong with it—but completing it.”
Later this year, Placebo will undertake an extensive tour of the pavilions of the United Kingdom and Europe to celebrate this important anniversary. The band will perform songs from their first two albums, “Placebo” and “Without You I’m Nothing”some of whose songs have not been played live for more than 20 years.
The tour will start in Portugal before traveling Europe and conclude in the United Kingdom. In our country we can see them in Madrid (October 1, Movistar Arena) and Barcelona (October 3, Sant Jordi Club).
