Pixies announce album for Halloween, ‘The Night The Zombies Came’

Pixies have announced the release of a new album, ‘The Night The Zombies Came’. It will be available on October 25th, “just in time for Halloween”, and will include both the previously released ‘You’re So Impatient’ and the new ‘Chicken’. According to the press release, it is the most cinematic album of their career.

Black Francis describes the new LP as “a kind of movie.” If “You’re So Impatient” was a potent punk undercurrent, “Chicken” is the ghostly breeze of a graveyard. “Sometimes I feel like a chicken, pecking at the trees as I go, when something cuts my head off, now I deal with decapitation,” Francis sings. The haunting, sensual electric guitar shines through the rest of the accompaniment.

‘Doggerel’ is the band’s latest album, released in 2022. This year, the American band has undergone a change in its lineup, after bassist Paz Lechantin announced his departure from the band last March. He was replaced by Emma Richardson, also a member of Band of Skulls.

Tracklist:

1. ‘Primrose’
2. ‘You’re So Impatient’
3. ‘Jane (The Night the Zombies Came)’
4. ‘Chicken’
5. ‘Hypnotised’
6. ‘Johnny Good Man’
7. ‘Motoroller’
8. ‘I Hear You Mary’
9. ‘Oyster Beds’
10. ‘Mercy Me’
11. ‘Ernest Evans’
12. ‘Kings of the Prairie’
13. ‘The Vegas Suite’
