The XXXIII edition of the festival Southern Pyrenees He has been announcing names from his lineup, but now he adds one of the greats of Latin American music. It is about Ruben Bladeswho will participate supported by a big band.
Salsa legend Rubén Blades joins the program of the XXXIII edition of the Southern Pyrenees, which will be held in Lanuza (Huesca) among the July 9 and 26. A program that until now had announced great international artists such as José González, Suede Rufus Wainwright either Stereo Bombas well as prominent names on the state scene: Guadiana Leeches, La MODA, Carlos Ares, Nacho Vegas, Valeria Castro, La Fúmiga, Dani Fernández, Hens or ETS.
Rubén Blades will return to Lanuza, this time to present his latest album to date, “Photographs”published last year and recorded with the orchestra of Robert Delgado. And it will be precisely with this orchestra that he will perform at the Huesca festival. A formation made up of twenty Panamanian musicians who have been performing with Blades since 2010.
It will be a new self-tribute to the career of an artist who is fundamental to understanding salsa and, in general, Latin American music since he revolutionized salsa in New York during the 1970s. Since then he has never stopped proudly showing his roots and writing great songs with lyrics that are part of the collective imagination of millions of people around the world such as “Pedro Navaja”, “Plásico”, “Decisiones” or “El padre Antonio y el altaguillo Andrés”.
In addition to Blades -whose spectacular concerts are considered among the best that have been previously witnessed at the festival-, the performance of Melanie Santilerwhich will open the night. The twenty-four-year-old Cuban is a young promise of pop in her country and in 2024 she was included by Rolling Stone magazine in the list “A new generation of artists highlighting Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.” The rest of the names that remain to complete the festival’s lineup will be announced in the near future.
