Pipiolas shoot ‘It will be because I love you’ (1981) by Richhi e Poveri in their new single, ‘I’m a star!!!’. The similarity between both songs is so evident that the same press release recognizes that Italian disco classic as its main influence, but the best thing is that, with these foundations, Pipiolas has come up with another great pop song.
In ‘I’m a star!!!’, the duo formed by Paula and Adriana recovers an old idea (the melody of ‘Sarà Perché Ti Amo’, in its original version) and makes it sound fresh. They achieve this thanks to their usual self-confidence, their irony, Vau Boy’s crystalline production and their own context, since Pipiolas doing exactly this makes perfect sense.
‘I’m a star!!!’ ironizes the role of the artist in the pop industry. Officially it is “a satire on what the functioning of the industry turns into actresses who try to fulfill their dreams. “I am good, I am brilliant, I am valid, but if no one chooses us, then we are nothing.”
What does the industry turn these actresses or singers into? According to ‘I am a star!!!’, in animals hungry for attention and admiration, condemned to compete for a scrap of visibility, often at the expense of art itself. “So much talent, I act, sing and paint, I surpass my teachers, I know my time is coming,” sing Paula and Adriana, aware that none of this will be enough. In the chorus, they beg us to choose them because their faces are beautiful and their talent is the most valuable. Talent is intrinsic to them: it is part of their “nature.”
“The satire on the functioning of the art industry, so often unrelated to talent and much more concerned with economic performance, has served Paula and Adriana to show all this in a song,” adds Elefant.
‘I’m a star!!!’ It is the second preview of the album that Pipiolas will publish in 2026. The first, ‘Not touching’, has been available since last October.
