The German artist and businessman has died Philipp Jungco-founder of the duo MANDY and of the seal Get Physical Musicas confirmed by sources close to the artist.
Jung was a key figure in the expansion of European house music in the 2000s. From Berlin, where he settled in 2002, he promoted the creation of Get Physical Music together with Patrick Bodmer, DJ T. and Booka Shade. A label that became a global reference and was recognized as “Label of the Year” by DJ Mag in 2005.
Like MANDY, together with Bodmer, he signed one of the most influential anthems of club electronics with “Body Language”, a song that defined an era and helped consolidate the minimal-house sound on the international scene.
In addition to his work as a producer, Philipp Jung stood out as A&R (Artists and Repertoire) and as a musical selector, with a very influential vision in detecting new talents and trends within electronics. In recent years he had continued to explore new, more personal sonic territories, from ambient to melodic electronics.
His career leaves a fundamental mark on contemporary club culture, marked by an idea of the dance floor as an emotional, collective and constantly evolving space.
