die Paul Di’Annowho was the first vocalist of Iron Maidenand one of the most emblematic voices of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. He was sixty-six years old and died of natural causes.
The family of Paul Andrewsthat is to say Paul Di’Anno artistically speaking, has announced the death of the vocalist due to natural causes. It was well known that the musician’s health had been very delicate for some years. In fact, despite the fact that in 2023 he offered more than a hundred concerts around the world, he had to perform in a wheelchair.
Andrews has died at his home in Salisbury at the age of sixty-six and there have been many displays of affection from other musicians on social media, including of course his former colleagues in Iron Maiden. And Di’Anno was the charismatic vocalist with whom the band recorded their two sharpest works, read “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”. Born in 1958, Di’Anno was in the band between 1978 and 1981. He has subsequently led various projects such as Battlezone, Killers or the most recent Warhorsein addition to having solo albums. With Paul Di’Anno’s Warhorse he published a work just a few months ago, in July 2024. It has also seen the light very recently “The Book Of The Beast”a compilation of his post-Maiden career.
During the last years of his life, the singer was also very critical of the health system in the United Kingdom, a country in which he had great problems receiving treatment and which led him to have surgery in Croatia. Subsequently, the photograph in which Steve Harris, bassist and leader of Iron Maiden, was taken with Andrews, showing him all his support and respect, was historic. Apparently, Harris also personally helped him cover part of his medical expenses.
