Patti Smith is discharged after being admitted to the hospital

Patti Smith is resting after her unexpected admission to the hospital a few days ago. The artist, who was in Italy for some concerts, had to cancel them for health reasons, according to local media.

“I am resting, as the doctor ordered, grateful to have had that care, although painfully aware that many are not so fortunate,” Smith wrote on Instagram hours after the news of her discharge was announced. “This is to thank everyone at the hospital for their help and advice,” her message also says, which the artist accompanies with an image of her accompanied by the doctors who treated her.

Italian media reported that Smith was taken to Maggiore Hospital on Tuesday due to a “sudden illness” that led to the cancellation of the concert she was scheduled to give that night at the Teatro Duse in Bologna. Likewise, she was also forced to cancel the one she had scheduled at the Malibran Theater in Venice last night.

«I am very sorry that we have had to cancel the concerts in Bologna and Venice. I will be back to fulfill my happy obligations,” Patti Smith wrote on her Instagram post. “I want to thank everyone for sending messages of love and concern,” she added.
