Time after the release of “Sacrifice”, Bizarre Love Triangle changes perspective towards a more visceral and terrestrial world.
This is the second preview of the album to come: “Pat atrenca”, an episode from real childhood in the form of a song that returns to this memory in the form of a reckoning.
His argument is clear: old-school authoritarianism, humiliation and power through fear. Faced with this pretext, a group of children will decide to rebel by entering their teacher’s house and destroying absolutely everything. “Why do you leave the door open?”, the phrase that begins the song is then presented as a link between the past and the present, like a double-edged sword.
In “Pat atrenca” we can notice structures typical of Seattle rock that are constantly breaking; However, the song flows with a pure minimalist character. The violins and dry guitars are responsible for driving the tension to the maximum until reaching the chorus, where Rodrigo and Isa emphasize “we are not going to forget.” The forceful sound that accompanies this sentence sounds like a grunge explosion that transports us to an enormous mental and physical liberation.
Thus, the Galician group invites us to reflect honestly: is pleasure savored through hitting? The song refers to that moment in which the roles are reversed, the power relationship is not the same and the world is upside down, pure primitive feeling. “Pat atrenca” makes us uncomfortable with its ferocity, but it makes us think that growing up is overcoming those bad memories that disturb us in life and, of course, making us their worst nightmare.
