Paloma Faith, one of the great British vocalists of today, has announced a new album. ‘The Glorification of Sadness’ comes out on February 16 and includes collaborations with Chase & Status, Kojey Radical and Låpsley, among others.
The concept of “divorce album” seems appropriate to talk about ‘The Glorification of Sadness’. In 2022, Faith separated from her partner, and father of her children, Leyman Lahcine, after nine years of relationship. It is rumored that Paloma and Leyman secretly married in 2017, something that seems to confirm one of the confirmed titles on her new album, ‘Divorce’.
To top it all off, the first single from ‘The Glorification of Sadness’ features the graphic title track of ‘How You Leave a Man’. The theme portrays a man who “will do everything in his power” to manipulate the person and ensure that they do not abandon him, even though he knows that person feels “tired and humiliated.”
As for the music, Paloma has come up with a song very similar to ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele, something evident in the instrumentation and, above all, in the melody of the chorus. As a curious fact, Charlie Puth is one of the credited authors.
It’s even more exciting to listen to another of the confirmed titles, ‘Eat Shit and Die’. The album will contain 17 tracks in total, although the tracklist remains stored in a drawer. ‘Infinite Things’, Faith’s last album so far, was released in 2020.
