Opulence and “High Voltage” in the R&B of Femme Fatene

Femme Fatene is the alias of Fatima Fatene de Jesús, an artist originally from Huelva but resident in Madrid that is postulated as the new promise of the R&B in Spanish. Femme Fatene’s music is made up of leisurely rhythms and enveloping textures that refer to the neo-soul facet of artists such as SZA, Kali Uchis or Erykah Badu. In Spain it is the sound that made Nathy Peluso known, although Femme Fatene’s music is more attached to pink and dreamlike textures.

Also to the first Mabel remembers songs like ‘Sepaos?’. In fact, it shows that Femme Fatene has developed taste for productions that sound faces and opulent. In that sense, his proposal is similar to that of Amaarae and, in fact, Femme Fatene has not resisted the Afrobeat, as evidenced in another of his outstanding singles, ‘daggers’.

Femme Fatene is an artist “with Mozambiqueña roots by mother and Moroccans by the father.” Therefore, according to the official press release, “his music reflects a unique cultural fusion that shapes a versatile sound characterized by the mixture of styles.”

‘Rota’ is probably the most dramatic composition of Femme Fatene, and its production, signed by Jorge Ramos, is again prodigious. In comparison, ‘high voltage’ cannot be more sensual and enjoyment, while its sound design maintains the level. Femme Fatene dedicates ‘high voltage’ to a person who hooks “like drugs” and, like drugs, also adds addiction this sophisticated production of Rubio Druid full of tintineos and bubbly sounds. Vocally, Famme Fatene chooses a nasal and sensual record, similar to Britney Spears, another artist who has embodied the role of “femme fatale.”

‘High Voltage’ is the last single of Femem Fatene and has recently premiered next to a video clip -produced by Femme Fatene and Stereonoke and inspired by the evening sculptures. In this video, “the artist becomes an ethereal figure, representing an object of desire for the male protagonist, in a visual metaphor as enigmatic as captivating.”
