Beyond the personal, Louis and Zayn have dedicated words in their respective statements to praise Liam’s musical talent, highlighting his good ear for music and his good work for composition. For Zayn he was the most “musically qualified” member of One Direction, and Louis has expressed that Liam was “the most vital part” of the group.
