34 groups and soloists have been selected for the #GPS16 edition of Girando Por Salas, an initiative of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) of the Ministry of Culture. Selected from among 689 approved artists, the chosen artists cover styles of pop, rock, urban, jazz, folk, roots music, funk, soul, electronic rock, miscegenation, hard rock, fusion, R&N or signature songs.
Among those chosen, proposals that you have been able to read about in these pages stand out, such as the synth-punk of Grande Amore, the indie-pop of The Crab Apples, the alternative pop of Ona Mafalda, the garage rock of Tiburona, the Galician folk of Antía Muíño or the pop-punk of Paula Koops.
Equally interesting bets such as the fun La 126, the also garage band Juventude -in a more Spanish style-, the indie-rock of El Verbo Odiado or the indie-pop of Melifluo, swell the lineup for the 16th edition of Girando por Salas.
Also joining the initiative are the recommended proposals from Awakate, Baja California, Bigblack Rhino, Delacueva, Dulze, El Niño Lord.Cah, Flecha Valona, Galerna, Hermana Furia, Huracán Romántica, Jassy Ojeda, Javi Chapela, Kike M, Lero, Lluís Sánchez, Los Acebos, Miniño, Pandorado, Rambalaya, Riada, Speaker Cabinets, Txeih Jazz Factory, Victories and Wise.
Girando por Salas reminds us that “these 34 chosen will receive aid to hold concerts within the venue circuit throughout Spanish territory.” “These concerts,” it indicates, “will be held outside the Autonomous Community of residence of each artist or a minimum of 300km within it.” Thus, Girando por Salas “wants to promote emerging musical talents and their dissemination beyond their natural sphere of influence, as well as encourage their professionalization.” Likewise, “artists will receive aid for the production and recording promotion of their works, thereby enhancing both record production and the stability of the live music venue circuit.”
