If Pitchfork published yesterday its selection of the 100 best songs of 2023, today they have revealed their list of the best albums of the year. And, although there are no big surprises on the list, there is much less room for what is popular as there was among his 100 best songs.
The artist nominated for Best New Artist at the next Grammys, Ice Spice, stands out on the list with ‘Like..?’ (#32), her debut album. She also does Sofia Kourtesis with ‘Madres’ (#24) and Mitski with ‘The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We’ (#23). Approaching the top 10, boygenius appears with ‘The Record’ (#16). Surprisingly, Olivia Rodrigo with ‘GUTS’ (#14) earns one of the best positions, after the single ‘get him back!’ It was one of the 5 best songs of the year for Pitchfork.
In the top positions, as expected, are Lana Del Rey and her ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’ (#11), Sufjan Stevens with ‘Javelin’ (#6) and Caroline Polacheck with ‘Desire, I Want to Turn Into You’ (#2). For Pitchfork, the best album of the year is SZA’s, ‘SOS’, which is becoming one of the most acclaimed albums of the year. He is up for up to 9 statuettes at the Grammys, highlighting the Album of the Year award.
