The Temper Trap, authors of the iconic ‘Sweet Disposition’, have given the details of their fourth album, their first in 10 years. ‘Sungazer’ can be heard from July 10 and has been presented with three notable singles, including the exciting ‘Giving Up Air’, which was promoted with one of the best video clips of 2025, analyzed in our «Video clip aesthetics» section.
Among the singles from ‘Sungazer’ are also the distorted ‘Lucky Dimes’ and ‘Into the Wild’, the most similar of the three to ‘Sweet Disposition’. They are now joined by a fourth single that is equally recommended, but in the key of epic mid-tempo.
‘Sungazer’, the title track, is a beautiful dedication from Dougy Mandagi, leader of The Temper Trap, to his son, about whom he sings that his presence disarms him and makes him maintain hope in the midst of the storm. “My love for you will shine forever,” intones the artist, known for his beautiful voice.
‘Sungazer’ once again showcases The Temper Trap’s talent for writing excitingly developing songs, this time through a powerful fusion of trip-hop and alternative rock, where guitars and keyboards leave the song much higher than where it began.
