Keyboardist and producer Leo Aldrey leads Noko Woia group that was born in 2014, but is now regaining its momentum to perform in Barcelona with a special summer concert. Its vocalist is none other than Salvador Sobral.
Noko Woi means “listen around” in “warao”, a native Venezuelan language. And that’s what the songs included in the two albums of the group led by composer Leo Aldrey and with Salvador Sobral at the helm as vocalist are about. “Noko Woi” (14) and “Poke The Eye”which was released last year. Songs that talk about “places we come from, places we are, people we have met, people we are, ideas people said, ideas we found.”
Noko Woi will land on July 2 in the Paral·lel 62 room (Barcelona) to present the new course that has been charting in recent months. After the two albums in English that we just mentioned, the project led by Leo Aldrey now explores more tropical territories, incorporating songs in Spanish and Portuguese for the first time. Paral·lel 62 will be the first stop of a particularly significant summer for the band, which will debut at Paredes de Coura, one of the benchmark festivals on the European scene.
Formed in Barcelona in 2014 – the year in which they managed to perform at the Sónar Festival – and never stopping performing even though they have taken their career very slowly, the group has put the machinery in motion again with its usual lineup, which, apart from Aldrey Sobral, includes Juan Berbín on drums, Juan Daniel González and Adolfo Bueno on guitars, and Frederic Font on bass.
