New “collection” of Homage speakers from Sonus Faber

Converted into the most genuine emblem of Sonus Faber’s passion for sound naturalnessthe quality of materials and the constructive perfectionismthe range (“collection”) of Homage loudspeakers has just been subject to a new revision coinciding with the celebration of the market launch (in 1993) of its first model: the legendary compact monitor with dedicated marble stand Guarneri Homage, custom made for the “Museo del Violino” of the famous Italian town of Cremona. The new generation Homageformed by the floor-standing acoustic boxes Amati G5 and Serafino G2 (both with a 3.5-way/4-speaker configuration), the compact 2-way/2-speaker monitor Guarneri G5 and the speaker for the 3-way/4-speaker center channel Vox G3maintains the classic lute shape for the enclosures, although with modifications in the metal parts, where the angled edges have been replaced with gently rounded ones, and also in the finishes.

In the technological field, the new Sonus Faber, whose name is now accompanied by the generation to which they belong, preserve the bulk of the engineering solutions used in the previous generation, solutions that, thanks to the commitment of the research and development team of the Italian firm and the use of advanced computer and simulation equipment, have been complemented by other absolutely innovative new ones. Thus, the scheme of internal reinforcements and the bass-reflex charging system to increase efficiency and output level, maintaining strategic control of resonances. For their part, the chambers that house the mid and high speakers of the Amati G5, Serafino G2 and Vox G3 models are optimized in the new Homage using a groundbreaking technology called Intono, which combines the advantages of acoustic suspension and the bass-reflex system while eliminating its drawbacks. Another key technological refinement (discovered almost by accident during a computer simulation) of the two columns of the new Homage range is the new Damping Ring (“Damping Ring”) present in its midrange transducers, which harmonizes their air movement to attenuate potential turbulence, while waveguides reinforce the propagation of the latter to the listening point with a more coherent wave pattern.

The result in this case is a frequency response curve softer with higher levels of clarity both on the axis of symmetry of the speaker and outside it. As far as the speakers Strictly speaking, the new features are concentrated first in the midrange and bass used in the Amati G5 and Serafino G2 models, equipped with more powerful magnetic motors and an improved peripheral suspension to push the possibilities of the natural fiber compound used in the respective cones to the limit. For its part, the Guaneri G5 has a new midwoofer 150 mm in diameter, in which the resonance frequency has been reduced to 15 Hz to increase the depth of the bass without generating distortion. The new Homage are completed with a fundamental addition: a sophisticated hybrid crossover filter executed with the highest quality audiophile grade components, which fuses the exclusive schemes Paracross Topology and Interactive Fusion Filtering by Sonus Faber. The integration of this filter with the Phase Coherent concept, embodied in a front panel speaker arrangement designed to linearize the critical phase response, maximizes both tonal precision and three-dimensional presentation, making the new Homage the most musical never created.
