I was really surprised that Nebulossa hadn’t released any new songs yet, almost a year after we heard ‘Zorra’ at Benidorm Fest. A song that has just been certified platinum in Spain.
Especially since the group had previously released several singles, on the way to what was to be an EP. While it remains to be seen where the outstanding ‘Me pones a mil’ and ‘Me ha dado porno’ will finally be placed, Nebulossa finally release a new song, ‘Cotilleo’.
Like all their discography, with the notable ‘Poliédrica de mí’ standing out, ‘Cotilleo’ is a song based on 80s synth-pop. In other words, imagine if Nebulossa now start making hyper pop.
Very Fangoria, very Sara Montiel too (very Carlos Berlanga), ‘Cotilleo’ responds to the criticism that Nebulossa have received during these months of fame. “I am so clear about who I am” is the pre-chorus. “Put the gossip where it fits”, its chorus. The verses appeal to the people who have called Mery Bas things like “Barbie from a nursing home”. And the post-chorus contains references to other empowering songs by people like Karol G (‘Bichota’), Shakira (‘Bizarrap Sesion’) or ‘Zorra’ herself.
As if all this fantasy and the Versailles-style video weren’t enough for you, the song’s closing is a play on “I’ve come to serve myself, pussy” and “I’ve come to serve gossip.”
Nebulossa continue their extensive tour. For example, they will perform on October 26th at Loco Bongo XXL, Barcelona, together with Gloria Trevi, Chanel, Chenoa, Sonia and Selena, Ladilla Rusa, Rebeca and some others. More dates on their Instagram.
