‘MY OH MY’: Inside Kylie, Rexha and To-Tove Lo’s Darkroom

Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo and Bebe Rexha have released ‘MY OH MY’, initially meeting with a certain feeling of disappointment. The song is a bit generic in Steve Mac’s production.

However, ‘MY OH MY’, which can be read as MOM in reference to the former’s charisma above all, is a “grower”. It’s not as good a “la la la” as ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’, but it is as catchy as a Naughty Boy. In other words, it’s one of those productions that settles in your brain whether you want it to or not. Except this one adds some grace in its lyrics.

‘My Oh My’ doesn’t rely entirely on the teaser for each of the singer’s zodiac signs. When Kylie – who is a Gemini – posted the first teaser, her fans had to guess who her two companions could be through the symbols for Virgo (finally Bebe Rexha) and Scorpio (finally Tove Lo).

In the lyrics, each one recites her name and sign, but it is of course the always sexual Tove Lo who adds the most spice, saying that she is in a “dark room” and also introducing herself as “To-Tove Lo” in reference to that viral video in which Megan Thee Stallion fought to pronounce her name. “I always loved a dark room with someone to talk to, but I’ve never met anyone like you,” she says.
