In line with the spectacular renovation that is experiencing its catalog, Musical Fidelity has just shown off its recognized purism in the form of a new product that will meet the demands of vinyl record enthusiasts: the M8x Vinyl phono preamp. Viewed as a substantial progress from the renowned M6x Vinyl, this exquisite electronics benefits from major refinements in practically all its facets, being therefore the new flagship of the achievements of its class belonging to the respected M range from the veteran British firm. Thus, and like its little brother, the new Musical Fidelity is executed entirely with discrete elementsbut, in parallel, its architecture is now completely balancedwhich means that the positive and negative half cycles of each channel have their own amplification stage, which implies the number of components used (more than double!) and overall complexity.
Also the fundamental gain section has been improved, since it now consists of 3 stages that are capable of providing greater gain than before (with 8 positions available on its balanced outputs equipped with XLR connectors: 40, 43, 46, 49, 60, 63, 66 and 69 dB), exhibiting at the same time a Lower noise level and distortion. Another relevant novelty of the M8x Vinyl is the filter circuitry network signal and DC blocking. Furthermore, the printed circuit board (PCB) corresponding to the power supply is three times larger, with the aim of supplying extremely clean energy to the devices responsible for processing the delicate audio waveform. There is a key contribution in this regard: that of one of the sophisticated transformers “Super Silent” of the brand, encapsulated in order to protect the ultrasensitive phono stage from potential external electromagnetic radiation.
And they have even added the Decca and Columbia curves to the traditional RIAA, as well as a double stage of passive equalization, a subsonic filter two steps, extra tickets and even additional load settings to achieve optimal adaptation of a very wide spectrum of pickup cartridges. In line with the Musical Fidelity tradition, this refined electronics has been conceived in such a way that the user can never overload the input stage or encounter any practical limitations in the attack capacity of its exit section. The intended purpose is to make the M8x Vinyl a transparent conduit for musicso that it is reproduced exactly as the artist conceived it.
