Mushkaa and Julieta are two of the brightest promises of Catalan pop. On the one hand, Mushkaa is making a name for herself by betting on the different sounds associated with “urban” music, such as trap or dancehall. On the other, Julieta represents the more pop side of the new Catalan music. They both have in common the fact that they sing in “Catalan”, also in their new joint single.
A year after teaming up on ‘No m’estima+’, one of the biggest recent hits in Catalan pop, Mushkaa and Julieta join forces again on ‘Vaya liada’, a Brazilian funk production that switches to house in its second half.
‘Vaya liada’ is -indeed- the typical current pop song that goes from one style to another and, without being a revelation, it does its job and provides a good time. In ‘Vaya liada’ Mushkaa plays the role of a girl in love and Julieta plays the role of a “chula” who “misbehaves”. “For you I leave the girls, gigs and money,” sings Irma Farelo. “Mushkinha, you have many qualities,” replies Julieta.
Up to four people have been involved in the busy production of ‘Vaya liada’, these are Bexnil and Roots, regular collaborators of Mushkaa (the first appears in the video clip alongside the artists), and also aka luigi, alias of Lluís Cabot, former member of Da Souza, and Nusar3000, known for signing the machine-like remix of ‘Despechá’ by Rosalía.
As for her individual projects, Mushkaa has recently released her debut, ‘SexySensible’, which includes the hit ‘SexeSexy’ alongside Bad Gyal. Julieta, on the other hand, has signed with Sony Music and is preparing her debut full-length. ‘Full Romance’ has been her latest solo single.
