Múm, the Icelandic band that gave so much what to talk about at the beginning of the century with its innovative click sounds n ‘cuts and peculiar instrumentations, and from which the Oscar -winning composer Hildur Guđnadóttir was a member, they return with new long, the first in 12 years. ‘History of silence’ is put on sale on September 19. It is Múm’s first album from ‘Smilewound’ (2013), which, as you may remember, contained a collaboration by Kylie Minogue, ‘Whistle’, a theme that was actually part of the soundtrack of ‘Jack & Diane’, 2012 film in which Kylie appeared.
‘History of Silence’ is an album “recorded, deconstructed, re -assembled, refined and finished over two years.” That is, it will be a work as artisan as usual.
The eight cuts of ‘History of Silence’ «oscillate around a carefully selected palette of electronic and analog sounds». This is the proposal of ‘Mild At Heart’, the first advance full of musical curiosity that, guided by the female voices of Múm, Gyða Valtýsdóttir, Sigurlaug Gísladóttir and Róberta Andersen, part of some peaceful acoustic guitar chords to, little by little, to incorporate different elements, such as electronic programming or other instruments or effects. A small piece of pop goldsmiths as only Múm know how to do them.
