You can now listen to the Galicians' new album for the first time Moura. When psychedelia, progressive and traditional folklore come together.
The band from A Coruña is back with “Smoke holy of loureiro”a four-song EP that serves as the soundtrack to the short film “Nai” by Tito Refoxo and co-written with Brais do Rei. Following their 2020 self-titled debut single “Muiñeira da Maruxaina” (21) and second studio album, “Axexan, espreitan” (22), we were very eager to see the paths they would take us in their new work, which you can enjoy below although you already had an idea thanks to the advance single Against the evils of aeration.
Moura are unique in their kind because no one mixes Galician tradition with psychedelia and progressive rock like them. Conceived as a soundtrack for the short film nai of the filmmaker Tito Refoxoand co-written with Brais do Rei (current drummer of the band, after the departure of Luis Casanova, who was behind the drumsticks until the release of their previous album) in Smoke saint of loureiro (2024, Spinda Records) the band uses a verse very present in various Galician rituals to practice exorcisms, cures, healings and blessings. Thus, they present us with 3 main songs, accompanied by an introduction and small cuts of incidental music, where we see the most experimental Moura, very much in line with their theme. Alalá do Abellón.
On this occasion the group went to the Hertzcontrol Studios in the north of Portugal to work with the producer and engineer Marco Lima, who has already provided live sound for them at events such as Barcelona Psych Fest and Sonic Blast Fest. The mastering was carried out by the now regular Álvaro Gallego; and the record edition comes from Spinda Records and its Trippy Series and it does so in limited editions of 100 copies on CD and 500 copies on transparent, hand-screen printed vinyl, which you can purchase at Spinda Records.
